Nassau County police and Crime Stoppers are looking for the shooter in the county's first homicide of 2015, the victim possibly targeted for "gambling proceeds."

After Oscar Alfredo Granados, 43, was shot at 9:36 p.m. Sunday outside his home on Roslyn Road near Second Street in Mineola, Det. Capt. John Azzata, commanding officer of the Nassau County Police Department's homicide squad, said he believed Granados was singled out by his assailant.

"I believe that he was targeted, but I don't have that confirmed a hundred percent at this point because we're still following all the leads," Azzata said at a news conference Monday. "But it's leaning in that direction,"

Azzata said police are exploring several motives -- including that Granados may have been targeted for gambling proceeds -- and confirmed Granados' brother's account that the assailant tried to rob Granados just before the shooting.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All information will be kept confidential.
