All lanes of the westbound Long Island Expressway in Plainview have reopened after a garbage truck fire that caused traffic delays for a few hours, according to Nassau County police and the New York State Department of Transportation.

The fire about 10 a.m. initially closed three lanes between Exit 46, Sunnyside Boulevard, and Exit 44, the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway. Just before 2 p.m., the DOT said just the right and center lanes were closed.

Video from state DOT cameras showed traffic had backed up into Suffolk County.

As of 1:15 p.m. the fire was out and the garbage truck was off on the right shoulder. By 3:30 p.m. all lanes were open.
