Baldwin LIRR elevator being fixed

The elevator at the Long Island Rail Road station in Baldwin has been taken out of service for what railroad officials are calling "a major overhaul."

It is expected it will remain out of service until Jan. 22.

Officials said the escalator at the station is working.

The railroad also is advising that customers who need an elevator to reach the platform area should consider taking the train from either of two adjacent stations, Rockville Centre or Freeport.
