Jacob Bondorowsky, 26, of East 27th Street was arrested on Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre at about 2:30 p.m. and charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree assault and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon, police said.
Police said they had been searching for Bondorowsky since Aug. 28, when he attacked the 27-year-old victim in retaliation for a prior dispute. Police would not identify the victim.
Bondorowsky, posing as a deliveryman, approached the victim's Nassau Lane home and forced his way in, striking the victim with a hammer once he was inside.
The victim was treated at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside and released.
Bondorowsky was scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
