Burglar wakes Syosset man, flees with guns

Nassau County police are looking for a suspect in the Wednesday burglary of a Syosset house in which guns, jewelry and cash were taken from a bedroom while the homeowner was sleeping.

Police said a homeowner, 69, was sleeping in his bedroom on Cherry Lane East when he was awakened by a noise at about 4:55 a.m.

He saw a person get up from behind a chair and then leave the room, police said. The person left the house through the front door and ran away in an unknown direction, police said.

Police said the suspect entered the home through an attic window.

The homeowner reported to Second Squad detectives that two handguns, jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash were taken.
