Cablevision raising cable-TV prices for 2010

The average Cablevision cable TV bill will go up 3.7 percent next year, the company reports. Bethpage-based Cablevision Systems Corp., which owns Newsday, said standard pricing for its Optimum Online Internet and phone service will remain the same for 2010. The higher cable-TV prices will go into effect during the next few months.

John Trierweiler, senior vice president of product management, said, "We've been successful in a highly competitive market because our customers love our products, which we continue to enhance through new features and functionality."

Standard prices for Optimum Online high-speed Internet and digital voice service have not gone up since 2003, according to the company.
