A car fire briefly snarled Friday morning rush-hour traffic on the westbound Northern State Parkway near the Nassau-Suffolk border, police said.

State Police said no one was injured in the fire, which destroyed the vehicle involved.

Volunteers from the Plainview Fire Department extinguished the blaze, Nassau County fire officials said.

The fire briefly closed the parkway between Exit 39, Round Swamp Road, and Exit 38, Sunnyside Boulevard.

State Police said the fire was reported at 8:07 a.m. and the New York State Department of Transportation said the situation was resolved and the road reopened at 8:45 a.m.
