Car fire shuts two lanes on LIE in Old Westbury

A car fire closed two lanes on the westbound Long Island Expressway Thursday morning in Old Westbury, police said.

The car fire was reported at 7:47 a.m. near Exit 40, the exit for Jericho Turnpike. The right and center lanes were closed as a result, Nassau County police said. A scan of the New York State Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed no major delays.

Fire officials said firefighters from Jericho responded.

Officials said it was unclear if anyone was injured.

It also was unclear how the fire began or if it was the result of an accident.
