Cops: 2 women attack 3 police officers making arrest

Three Nassau police officers were injured in West Hempstead by two women who attacked them when they tried to arrest a Valley Stream man on a charge of criminal mischief, police said Thursday.

That man and both women were arrested on various charges, police said, and the three officers were treated and released at a hospital.

Joseph Wright, 18, of 407 Rockaway Ave. was charged with criminal mischief, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration. Lashana Coleman, 29, of the same address, was charged with second degree assault, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration. Shakeva Wright, 20, of 1044 Harding St., Uniondale, was charged with second degree assault, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

One officer sustained an injured knee, one officer suffered a concussion and the third officer had a fractured wrist, police said. None of the officers were identified.

The altercation took place Tuesday at the parking lot of the Courtesy Hotel, 130 Hempstead Ave., West Hempstead. Police said Wright was involved in a dispute, repeatedly jumped on the hood of a car and damaged the car's driver's side quarter panel by kicking it, police said.
