A motorcyclist was struck by a car attempting to turn in front of him, resulting in two other collisions Friday night in North New Hyde Park, Nassau County police said.
A 24-year-old man was riding a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle west on Union Turnpike near Lakeville Road when he was struck by a 62-year-old man driving a 1998 Toyota car at about 6:30 p.m., police said in a news release.
The 62-year-old male was traveling east on Union Turnpike, attempting to make a left onto Lakeville Road, police said.
The motorcyclist then hit a 2009 Ford pickup and a 2010 Mercury that were stopped at a red traffic light on southbound Lakeville Road, police said.
The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital by Nassau County police ambulance and treated for multiple injuries. He was listed in critical but stable condition Saturday, according to police.
No other injuries were reported.
Police declined to identify anyone involved in the crash or specify the hospital to which the motorcyclist was taken.
The motorcycle was impounded for a brake safety check. The Third Squad is continuing to investigate.
