They approached the homeowner, who was sitting on his porch, and asked to borrow his cell phone to make a call.
He said yes, they made the call — and then punched him, kicked him and robbed him, Nassau County police said.
Now the two men — James Parker, 20, of 391 Lenox Avenue, Uniondale, and Trevor Williams, 21, of 451 Fulton Avenue, Hempstead — are under arrest for the robbery, which occurred on Manhattan Avnue in Roosevelt Thursday at 5:15 p.m. Both are charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree robbery.
They are scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court, Hempstead.
Police said Parker punched the victim in the side of his head with a “closed fist,” knocking the man to the ground.
Then the two kicked the victim, pushed him into his home and robbed the place.
Taken was a laptop computer, a digital camera, two cell phones and $480 in cash.
Police said the two fled but said officers found Parker near the corner of Cedar Street and Lenox Avenue while Williams was arrested trying to flee Parker’s house through a rear window. The computer was recovered and returned, police said.
