Cops: Evidence links homeless man to Long Beach burglaries

Long Beach police arrested a homeless man they believe burglarized two gas stations last fall.

Ronald Miller, 34, allegedly stole a laptop, cigarettes and cash from a Shamrock Gas Station on Merrick Road in Baldwin on Oct. 31 and broke a glass garage door of a BP gas station on Davison Street in Oceanside on Nov. 6.

A Long Beach detective spotted Miller on Chester Street in Long Beach on Friday. He ran, leading police on a short foot chase, but was apprehended behind houses on East Chester Street.

No injuries were reported.

An arraignment is schedule for Saturday at the First District Court in Hempstead. Miller is charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief, grand larceny and possession of burglary tools.

Miller left behind evidence at both gas stations that linked him to the incidents, police said.

Police declined to identify the evidence.
