Cops: Gunman shoots at 3 in Baldwin, no one injured

A woman crashed her car in Baldwin on Saturday evening after a man shot at two men standing next to her vehicle, then shot at her vehicle, Nassau County police said.

Police said the woman, 25, was sitting in her vehicle parked on Brooklyn Avenue at 6:47 p.m., when she saw a gray or silver car park nearby.

A man got out of the passenger side of the car and began walking toward her, police said. He took a silver handgun out of his sweatshirt pocket and fired it three times at two men who were standing outside the woman's car in front of a house, police said.

The two men ran, police said. As the woman tried to drive from the scene, the armed man shot at her car twice, police said, causing her car to hit a sign pole and a stoop of a house on Brooklyn Avenue, police said. The armed man got back into the passenger side of his car, which then headed west on Brooklyn Avenue, police said.

No one appeared to have been wounded by the gunman, but the woman had a minor bruise on her head and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

The gunman was described as in his 20s with a thin build, clean-shaven, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. Police ask anyone with information about this case to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
