Nassau police are looking for two suspects they said robbed a man who was trying to make a heating oil delivery in Hempstead on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said that after making phone arrangements to deliver the heating oil about 3:20 p.m., the 43-year-old male victim drove his truck to a Webster Avenue home, where he was met by one of the male suspects, who pretended to be the homeowner.
After the two started talking, the second suspect approached, "simulated" that he had a gun, police said, and snatched the victim's wallet, which held an undisclosed amount of cash, credit cards and personal documents. Both suspects then fled east on Webster Avenue, police said.
The victim described one suspect as being about 6 feet tall and in his 30s, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The victim said the other suspect was wearing new, "classic-colored" work boots.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain anonymous.
