Cops: Hempstead woman charged in stabbing of teen

A Hempstead woman is to be arraigned Thursday on charges that she stabbed a teenage acquaintance in a parked car last month, police said.

Shalesha Ross, 36, of 380 Front St., argued with the 18-year-old female victim on Nov. 13 on Front Street before taking out a knife and "stabbing the victim in the neck and chest," police said in a Thursday news release.

The victim was treated at an area hospital following the 7:55 a.m. incident. Police did not update her condition.

Ross was charged with first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Her arraignment is scheduled to be held in First District Court in Hempstead.
