Cops: Hit-run injures teen in Merrick

A 17-year-old male suffered head injuries when a car drove into a crowd gathered in the parking lot of Sanford H. Calhoun High School in Merrick after midnight on Saturday, police said.

According to Nassau County detectives, a man driving a black Audi started beeping the horn at the group about 12:30 a.m. The vehicle pulled out of a parking spot at 1786 State St. and drove toward the gathering, striking the teenager.

Police are looking for the driver who fled the scene. His identity was unknown Saturday morning, police said.

The teen, whose identity was not released, was taken to a hospital where he is listed in stable condition, police said.
