Cops: Homeless man charged in bank heist try

A homeless man tried to rob a Port Washington bank Monday, police said.

Nassau County's Robbery Squad and Port Washington police arrested Victor Williams, 19, on charges he attempted to rob a Capital One Bank at 1020 Port Washington Blvd.

Williams went into the bank and gave a teller a note demanding cash, authorities said. He then fled without collecting any money, police said.

Three employees and one customer were in the bank at the time; police said no injuries were reported.

Williams was arrested without incident by Port Washington police at about 5:50 p.m. at the Port Washington train station, police said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on a charge of third-degree attempted robbery Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
