Cops: Levittown jewelry store robbed

A man who police said robbed a Levittown jewelry store in broad daylight Sunday and fled on foot was being hunted by authorities.

The robbery, reported about 1:30 p.m., occurred at Gold Buyers Levittown Inc., 3259 Hempstead Tpke. According to Nassau detectives, a man armed with a black revolver entered the business, demanded money from an employee and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said the suspect fled on foot southeast toward Gardners Avenue. No injuries were reported. The male suspect is described as about 40 years old, about 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a stocky build and short curly black hair. He was last seen wearing a dark baseball cap, dark zippered sweat jacket, baggy sweatpants and black Converse style sneakers with a white sole.
