Cops: Man arrested after firing shots from and outside home

A Rockville Centre man who believed people were following him shot a round from a .22 caliber rifle through his glass front door and several more rounds into the lawn outside Wednesday night before officers arrested him, police said.

Joseph Coulon, 54, of 11 S. Kensington Ave., was charged with reckless endangerment, possession of a dangerous weapon and endangering the welfare of a child, Nassau County police said.

Coulon was ordered held on $5,000 bond, or $2,500 cash bail, at his arraignment Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said officers recovered the weapon at the scene. A 59-year-old woman and 14-year-old girl were home when the shots were fired shortly before 8 p.m., after the suspect fire the shots, believing people had followed him, police said. No one was injured.

"There were not people following him," a police spokesman said. "He was removed to a hospital for evaluation."
