Officers responding to a disturbance at a bar in Manhasset Sunday night arrested a 31-year-old man who at first ran from them, then attacked them, Nassau County police said.

The incident occurred outside Green's Pub on Plandome Road at about 10:45 p.m.

Police said Frank Filippelli, of 66 Chicken Valley Rd., Old Brookville, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and with obstructing governmental administration.

He is scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said that, when the Third Precinct officers arrived at the scene, Filippelli ran. Minutes later, police said, officers saw Filippelli run across a street, screaming.

They followed him into an alleyway, where, police said, the officers attempted to speak with Filippelli. Instead, police said, Filippelli started to run -- slamming an officer into his patrol car. The officers then struggled with Filippelli, who police said then began to punch one of the officers in the face, attempting to bite both.

The officers managed to subdue Filippelli. But not before one officer suffered facial injuries, as well as injuries to his knee, during the struggle.

That officer was treated at a hospital, police said.
