A 78-year-old Bellmore man was injured by shattered glass after falling through a glass door while trying to exit the Bellmore Memorial Library Tuesday morning, Nassau County police said. Police had said earlier that he was entering the building.
The accident, reported at 10:35 a.m., came about when the electric door did not open automatically as expected, police said.
The man was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center, where he is in stable condition, police said.
