Cops: Man held in attempted murder in Long Beach

A Long Beach man was being held without bail Wednesday on an attempted murder charge in a shooting that occurred in the city four days after superstorm Sandy hit the city.

Bradley Dennis, 27, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the Sycamore Court parking lot of the Channel Park Homes, where the shooting took place on Nov. 3, police said. The shooting occurred just after 9:20 p.m. -- and police said the victim was struck in the "upper left part" of the chest.

The victim, who was not identified by police, was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside.

Police did not provide further details about the shooting or say what led them to the suspect.

Dennis was arraigned Wednesday in Long Beach City Court and ordered held without bail by Judge Frank Dikranis, police said. He is scheduled to return to Nassau County Court in Mineola on Jan. 15.
