A pedestrian was seriously injured Saturday afternoon after he was hit by a pickup truck in North Bellmore, Nassau police said.

Police said the victim, a 64-year-old man, was crossing Newbridge Road at about 12:22 p.m. when he was hit by a Dodge pickup that was heading south, police said.

The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Police said the driver, a 52-year-old man, remained at the scene and no criminality was reported.

Newbridge Road was closed in both directions after the crash. The road was reopened at about 4 p.m.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
