Cops: Patrol car inadvertently foils robber

A would-be robber fled from his victim's car Sunday when the driver pulled up next to a Nassau County patrol car at a Westbury intersection, police said.

With the victim and the woman outside his car, the suspect approached with a handgun and told the woman to leave, police said.

The suspect then ordered the victim to drive to an ATM to get money.

When he saw the patrol car the suspect got out of the victim's car and ran south on Brush Hollow Road and was last seen in the parking lot of 100 Jericho Tpke., police said.
