Man bought pound of pot as his toddler, infant sat in nearby car, cops say

Two men who Nassau police said engaged in selling marijuana in East Meadow in front of two young children were arrested Monday night and released on bail Tuesday, police said.

Paul Kim, 29, of New Hyde Park and Mansur Wajid, 23, of Roosevelt were in the parking lot of 1900 Hempstead Tpke. about 8:20 p.m. when First Precinct officers saw them involved in a marijuana sale near their vehicles, police said.

Police said Kim handed over a plastic bag containing 1 pound of marijuana to Wajid, who gave Kim an undisclosed amount of cash.

Wajid's two children, a 1-year-old and a 4-month-old, were in their seats in his vehicle, police said. They were released to their mother at the scene.

Kim also had oxycodone pills, police said.

Kim was charged with first-degree criminal sale of marijuana, second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Wajid was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Both men were arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead. Court records show Kim was released on $5,000 cash bail and Wajid released on $1,000 cash bail.
