A Plainview man faces charges in the armed robbery of a coin dealer last week in Plainview, police said Monday.
The Nassau County police major case bureau arrested Richard Borsman, 38, of 64 Knowles St., outside his home at 8 p.m. Sunday and charged him with first-degree robbery and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said in a news release.
Borsman also was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said, after arresting officers found him in possession of heroin. Borsman is scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said that at 12:45 p.m. Friday Borsman walked into Coin Galleries of Oyster Bay, on Old Country Road in Plainview, and, armed with a knife, demanded cash.
It was not immediately clear how much money was taken in the robbery. He was last seen fleeing on foot through a parking lot on Lester Place.
Police did not say what led investigators to Borsman.
It was not clear if any money was recovered.
