Nassau County police are investigating the Monday gunpoint robbery of an East Rockaway branch in which two men -- one dressed in a FedEx uniform, the other dressed as a bank employee -- stole an undisclosed amount of cash, Nassau County police said.
The armed robbery occurred at a Chase bank branch at 111 Main St. at 6 p.m., which, according to the bank website, is closing time. Police said three employees were in the bank at the time. No one was injured.
Police said the first robber, described as being about 30 years old, entered the bank wearing a FedEx uniform, a dark-colored baseball cap and sunglasses. The second man, believed to be in his mid-to-late 30s, possibly his early 40s, wore a blue shirt worn by bank employees, a dark suit and a dark tie, police spokesman Insp. Kenneth Lack said.
Lack said the two men then tied the hands of the three employees, one of the gunmen forcing a banker into his office and the other forcing two employees into the vault.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the bank robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
All calls will remain confidential, police said.
