Nassau police charged a Seaford man on Saturday after he shot BB guns and a rifle at a makeshift target in his backyard bordering an elementary school, authorities said.
Michael Marron, 55, of 2608 Island Channel Rd., was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after police found he had cocaine and 19 hydromorphone hydrochloride pills, a derivative of morphine, authorities said.
Police first responded to Marron's home around 9:30 a.m. for a report of someone shooting a BB gun on the property, which is separated from Seaford Harbor Elementary School by a chain-link fence.
Officers found that Marron was shooting the BB guns and .22 caliber bullets from a rifle at the target -- a metal suit of armor that he had put on the fence, police said.
The armor was riddled with bullet holes, police said.
Marron, who faces two counts of Prohibitions on the Use and Possession of Firearms, was scheduled to be arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
