Cops seek assailants in West Hempstead mugging

Three males, two described as teens, robbed a man walking on a street in West Hempstead early Friday, stealing his cellphone, backpack, wallet and credit card, police said.

The victim, identified as a 22-year-old, was not injured, Nassau County police said.

Police said the robbery occurred at 12:15 a.m. on Cleveland Street near Glenwood Road. One of the suspects displayed a black semi-automatic weapon, which was in his waistband, according to police.

Two of the suspects were described as teens, believed to be between 16 and 18. There was no description of the third.

One robber wore a black hoodie and black and gray sweatpants. Another wore a black hoodie, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
