Police said troopers were called to the scene of a car-pedestrian accident at about 1:10 a.m. and found a critically injured man on the westbound exit ramp to Nassau Road.
The man was semiconscious, police said, and appeared badly hurt. A witness told police the vehicle that struck the man was a gray or silver BMW. The witness also told police the car should have front-end damage.
Police said they found only a passport on the man that identified him as Bayron Gonzalez-Cordova, 24. He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
Anyone with knowledge of the accident or who knows Bayron Gonzalez-Cordova can call 631-756-3300, police said. All calls will remain confidential.
