A Uniondale teenager was arraigned Wednesday on a burglary charge after his arrest in connection with a jewelry theft on his block, police said.
Dominick Torres, 18, of 198 Maple Ave., was charged with second-degree burglary, Nassau County police said.
The 40-year-old female resident of a Maple Avenue home noticed at 9 p.m. Monday that someone had entered through a window and stole jewelry from the master bedroom, police said in a Wednesday news release.
An investigation revealed Torres was the burglar, and that he "sold the proceeds to a local jewelry shop," police said. Police did not say how detectives connected the suspect to the burglary.
First Squad detectives, with the assistance of Bureau of Special Operations officers, arrested Torres at his residence without incident, police said.
He posted a $2,000 cash bail Wednesday after being arraigned and was released.
