Cops: Two Inwood brothers arrested in dispute

Two brothers were arrested in Inwood early Wednesday after they got into a fight with an 18-year-old woman, took her car keys and attempted to take her car, police said.

Tyhei Corley, 34, of 45 Jackson Ave., Hempstead, and Keith Corley, Jr., 32, of 884 South Main St., Farmingdale, were both charged with second-degree robbery after their arrests at 1:45 a.m.

Nassau County police said both are scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said the incident occurred inside the 2006 Dodge near the intersection of Burnside Avenue and Doughty Boulevard. After an argument, the 18-year-old woman asked the brothers to exit the vehicle but, police said, Keith Corley then grabbed the car keys from the ignition. A struggle ensued as the woman tried to retrieve the keys, police said.

The ignition key fell to the floor and, police said, Tyhei Corley picked it up and left the vehicle. Keith Corley then struck the woman in the face, police said, "forcibly" taking the remaining keys.

The woman fled.

But, police said, Keith Corley then attempted to start the car, but couldn't because he didn't have the ignition key.

Fourth Precinct officers then arrived on the scene and the two brothers were arrested.

Police could not immediately say what led to the initial confrontation.
