An early morning accident Wednesday in East Rockaway left a motorist trapped in his vehicle, which had come to rest with its passenger side flat on the ground, requiring emergency workers and East Rockaway Fire Department firefighters to extract him with hydraulic tools.

The accident involved at least two vehicles.

The call for assistance came at 6:47 a.m., saying there was an overturned car near 263 Atlantic Ave., which is near St. Raymond's Church, a Nassau Police Department spokesman, Officer James Imperiale, said.

Investigators had not yet reported details on the accident or any injuries, the police said shortly after the accident.
