Elmont man arrested in bank robbery

An Elmont man has been arrested on charges he robbed a Franklin Square bank in May, Nassau County police said Friday.

Michael Miller, 45, of 146 Arcadian Ave. was arrested Thursday by Robbery Squad detectives on O Street in Elmont, police said.

He is charged with third-degree robbery and violation of parole, police said.

Because Miller was admitted to a hospital for a pre-existing medical condition after his arrest, police said his arraignment will be scheduled at "bedside when practical."

At about 1:15 p.m. on May 7, Miller entered the Astoria Federal Savings Bank at 711 Franklin Ave. and passed a teller a note demanding money, police said. The teller gave an undisclosed amount of money to Miller, who then fled, police said.

During the robbery, there were eight employees and four customers in the bank, police said. No injuries were reported.
