The teller at Astoria Federal Savings Bank, 711 Franklin Ave., handed the robber an unspecified amount of cash, police said, and the man left through the bank's rear door shortly after 1 p.m.

No one was injured, police said.

The robber was described as 45- to 47-years-old, about 6'2" to 6'3," about 230 pounds, with short straight black hair, a mustache and a goatee. He was wearing a dark gray pullover sweatshirt, blue jeans and dark colored sneakers with white bottoms, and black plastic framed sunglasses, police said.

Detectives asked that anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
