Nassau Police are searching for a man they say robbed a Franklin Square gas station early Thursday morning, possibly at gunpoint.

Authorities say an unidentified man entered the Sunoco gas station at 355 Franklin Ave. around 2:30 a.m., displayed what was believed by the clerk to be a handgun under a black cloth, and demanded money.

The pair struggled and the suspect struck the male clerk in the face before reaching onto the counter and stealing the clerk’s cellphone.

The suspect ran away and has not been found, authorities said.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS, authorities said, adding that all callers will remain anonymous.
