Hempstead man arrested in September slaying

A Hempstead man has been arrested in North Carolina and escorted back to Long Island to be charged in the fatal shooting of another Hempstead man in September, Nassau police said.

Michael Gibson, 31, of Martin Luther King Drive, is expected to be arraigned Friday on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Joseph Bolling, 23. Gibson was arrested Sunday and taken to Long Island by New York State parole officers, police said. He will also be charged with violating parole, police said.

On Sept. 3, Hempstead police were called about 3 a.m. to Seduccion Gentlemen's Club on Main Street for a fight. At a street corner about 200 feet away, they found a wounded Bolling, who had been in the strip club.

Bolling was pronounced dead at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola about 20 minutes later.

The slaying came three years to the day after Bolling was arrested upstate in the killing of Samuel "Sammy" Brown, who was shot in the chest at a backyard barbecue in Uniondale on Aug. 10, 2008. Bolling was later acquitted.

No other details were available.
