Four shot, wounded at party outside Hempstead apartment building, police say

Four people were shot and wounded during a party outside an apartment building in Hempstead Saturday night, Nassau police said.

The four victims, two men, ages 38 and 43, and two women ages 41 and 42, were attending an outdoor party at about 11:15 p.m. in a yard behind the Dorlon Street building when the shooting occured, police said. The unknown shooter fired from a rear yard on Burnett Street and the rounds pierced a PVC fence separating the two properties, striking the victims, police said.

The male victims were taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow and the female victims were taken to NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, police said. Information on the extent of the victims' injuries or their conditions was not available.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain anonymous.
