Woman charged with driving drunk in Uniondale with minor in car, police say

A Hempstead woman was charged Sunday with drunken driving while having an underage passenger in the car, police said.

Nassau County police identified the suspect as Alondra L. Reyes-Gonzalez, 31, of 119 Courtney Rd.,. She was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of driving while intoxicated, unlicensed operation and insufficient headlamps. She was scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.

No injuries were reported.

According to police, officers observed Reyes-Gonzalez at 4:40 a.m. with no headlights on driving a 2010 Acura west on Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale, then turning south on Uniondale Avenue.

Police pulled the vehicle over and found two male passengers were in the car, ages 14 and 22, and an investigation found the defendant was driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a news release.

The suspect was placed into custody and the teen was released to his father.
