Gunman uses toy handcuffs to imprison employees of Hicksville Petco during robbery, cops say

A gunman with toy handcuffs imprisoned employees of a Hicksville pet store and stole money, Nassau police said Friday.

Except for a white T-shirt, the suspect wore all black, from ski mask to baseball cap, when he robbed the Petco at 265 North Broadway at 9 p.m. Thursday, police said. He had a black handgun, police said.

He used plastic, toy handcuffs to secure three employees in a back office and took money from a safe, police said.

The workers broke free and called police, authorities said. No one was injured, police said.

The suspect appeared to be 30 to 35 years old and 5 feet 10 inches tall and also wore a black-hooded sweatshirt, police said.

Detectives ask anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
