An Inwood man who had previously pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography has been charged again after police said he had uploaded the material to his personal Gmail and Dropbox accounts, Nassau police said Wednesday.
Police said Nassau detectives and the FBI Long Island Child Exploitation Task Force arrested Levorn Mays Jr., 25, a registered level-one sex offender, at his home at 103 Smith St. on Wednesday morning without incident. The Task Force along with federal prosecutors from the Eastern District of New York determined that Mays, who pleaded guilty in 2009 to possession of a sexual performance by a child, had uploaded child pornographic material to his Gmail and Dropbox accounts, police said.
Police said Mays was last arrested on a similar charge by Crimes Against Property Squad detectives on March 11. Court records shows Mays pleaded guilty in June to attempted possession of a sexual performance by a child and was released on bond.
Mays is being federally charged with distribution of child pornography, police said. He was arraigned Wednesday in federal court in Central Islip. Arraignment information was not immediately available Wednesday evening.
