A Flushing man was killed Friday in a two-car crash that shut down the Northern State Parkway in Old Westbury for about three hours, State Police said.

Jacob Shimonov, 22, was heading east just past the Willets Road exit when he veered into the lane to his right, clipped a car and crashed onto the shoulder, said Investig. Ralph Rodriguez.

He was the sole occupant in a Mazda, police said. The other driver, who stopped, did not report any injuries.

Rodriguez said it's not clear what caused Shimonov to lose control. "We don't think speed is a factor," he said.

The crash happened at 9:37 a.m., police said, and the lanes between exits 30 and 31 reopened shortly before 1 p.m.

Police ask witnesses to call them at 631-756-3300.
