The driver of a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee apparently left the scene early Sunday morning after hitting two vehicles, causing the driver's Jeep to catch on fire in East Farmingdale, Suffolk police said.

The Jeep was traveling on Allen Boulevard at 1:10 a.m. when it struck a parked 2001 Ford F150, then a 1990 Jeep that was in traffic, police said.

The 1998 Jeep appeared to flip and catch on fire, but by the time authorities arrived, the driver was nowhere to be found. The East Farmingdale Fire Department extinguished the fire, and the burned car was impounded.

No other details were immediately available.
