A Uniondale man who authorities say stole a sport utility vehicle with someone sleeping in it pleaded not guilty Thursday to multiple felonies.

Nassau prosecutors said a grand jury indicted Jordan Jackson, 18, on three robbery counts, along with assault and reckless endangerment charges.

The judge at Jackson's Mineola arraignment kept his bail at $10,000 bond or $5,000 cash, according to the district attorney's office.

Police have said the incident happened at about 5 a.m. on May 14 on Fullerton Avenue in Uniondale.

Authorities said a 32-year-old man woke up in the back seat of a 2006 Infiniti SUV and struggled with a suspect who had hopped inside and drove away.

The SUV hit a parked BMW and a fence before stopping, and the victim -- who was injured in the crash -- held the suspect until police arrived, prosecutors said.

"Mr. Jackson is maintaining his innocence and we're looking forward to litigating this in court," his attorney, Dennis O'Brien of Garden City, said Thursday.

Court records show Jackson is awaiting sentencing in a separate case after pleading guilty earlier this year to attempted criminal possession of stolen property.
