A Queens man has been arrested more than 2 years after the shooting death of Euton Christian of Valley Stream.
Lamell Ford, 33, was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a loaded weapon, the NYPD said.
Christian, 22, a LaGuardia Community College student majoring in political science, was shot about 11 p.m. on June 13, 2012, near 156th Street and 111th Avenue in Queens. He had stepped out of his car to check for damage after driving over a pothole, police and his family said at the time.
Christian and his 16-year-old brother, Evan, were driving home from visiting one of his college friends, family members said. Evan Christian told relatives at the time that he saw two groups arguing near where his brother had pulled the car over -- he said one man fired on the other group, and that Euton Christian was hit in the torso by two stray bullets.
Evan Christian was in the passenger seat when shots rang out, relatives said at the time, and he rushed to Euton's side and tried to stop the bleeding with a shirt, but was unable to save his older brother.
Christian was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, police said.
Arraignment information for Ford of Jamaica was not available Friday night.
