Long Island is set for a white - and wet - Christmas.
But first, a high pressure system will bring three days of sunny but chilly weather. Temperatures will be slightly below normal until Thursday, said Brandon Smith, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Upton.
Then a low pressure system should roll in from the south by Friday morning, bringing higher temperatures on Christmas of about 40 but also some rain and gusting winds, Smith said.
The rain and mild temperatures won't be enough to melt the weekend's immense snowfall, Smith said. And, he said there's a chance of more snow on Saturday.
