LIRR: Far Rockaway branch service fully restored after train hits vehicle

Service on the Far Rockaway branch has been fully restored in both directions after a vehicle was struck by a train during the Friday evening rush hour.

A car was hit at 4:32 p.m. by an eastbound train at the West Broadway grade crossing, the first grade crossing east of the Gibson station, an LIRR spokesman said.

Service was initially suspended, but after 7 p.m. service was completely restored after some delays and cancellations, according to the LIRR's Twitter feed.

Further details about the crash were not immediately available.
