LIRR reduces weekend service between Hicksville, Syosset

Long Island Rail Road service between Hicksville and Syosset will be reduced on four upcoming weekends, beginning Saturday, because of track work, the agency said.

Adjusted overnight schedules for the Huntington/Port Jefferson Branch include the weekends of Nov. 22-23, Dec. 6-7, Dec. 13-14 and Dec. 20-21.

Eight trains will run on the adjusted schedules between 12:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, according to a news release.

The adjusted schedule and more information is at mta.info/lirr. Customers also can call the LIRR Travel Information Center by dialing 511 and saying "Long Island Rail Road."

Schedule changes for the affected weekends include:

Westbound

-- The 2:04 a.m., 6:36 a.m., 7:03 a.m., and 7:36 a.m. trains from Huntington will operate without direct connections at Jamaica to Atlantic Terminal, Forest Hills or Kew Gardens.

-- The 7:08 a.m. train from Port Jefferson to Huntington will leave 23 minutes later than normal.

-- The 8:03 a.m. from Huntington will originate at Hicksville at 8:21 a.m. Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor and Syosset customers can board a train 30 minutes earlier or later for service.

Eastbound

-- The 5:25 a.m. train from Penn Station, normally due in Huntington at 6:30 a.m., will end at Hicksville. Customers traveling east of Hicksville should board the 5:51 a.m. train from Penn Station.

-- The 8:36 a.m. train from Huntington to Port Jefferson will leave 14 minutes later than normal.
