A 42-year-old Hempstead woman was arrested Thursday, charged with robbing another woman at gunpoint last month in the parking lot at Roosevelt Field mall, Nassau County police said.
Lisa M. Berry, of 590 Fulton Ave., was arrested on Fulton Avenue at 7:25 p.m. and charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree criminal use of a firearm. She faces arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said Berry, carrying a black handgun, approached a 25-year-old woman in the parking lot of the mall in East Garden City on Tuesday, May 26, at 9:15 p.m. -- a demanded cash. The victim, who police said had just finished a work shift at the mall, turned over $110 in cash to Berry, who then fled through a parking garage.
It was not immediately clear what led police to Berry or what evidence police believe links her to the crime.
Police had asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers, but it was not immediately clear if that request helped generate information leading to the arrest.
