Long Beach home catches fire, spreads to another, police say

An early morning fire caused what police called “heavy damage” to two homes in Long Beach on Tuesday.

No one was injured in the blaze on West Fulton Street, Long Beach Police Lt. Eric Cregeen said. But, he said, the home in the 100 block where the fire began was heavily damaged, as well a vacant home next door that was under renovation.

The fire was reported at 2:18 a.m.

Members of the Long Beach Fire Department, as well as Long Beach police, the Nassau County fire marshal and Nassau County Arson Bomb Squad personnel also responded. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
